Step 1
The first and most important part of your implant procedure involves planting the anchors that will serve as the foundation or support of your new tooth or teeth. This procedure takes place in the comfort of our office. Anchors will be placed under the gums into your jawbone. Once Step 1 has been completed, and your anchor is in place, anywhere from 2 to 4 months may be needed to allow the dental implant anchor to fuse with your bone. This is important because the strong support for your new teeth is being developed. Please understand that at no time during the implant procedure will you be required to go without teeth. Once you are confirmed as a candidate, you can be scheduled for the procedure.
Step 2
This step is much shorter than the first and is quite simple. Step 2 involves removal of the protective cover screw and attachment of the abutment posts to the implants. Abutments are small metal con-nectors that we will attach to the anchor from Step 1 of the implant process. Once connected, the abutment will serve as a strong attachment point for your new tooth or teeth.
Step 3
Step 3, the final step in your implant process, involves creating your new tooth or prosthesis. If you’ve been referred to our office by your dentist, you will be referred back to their office for this part of your treatment and we’ll work together to help produce a result that is natural in appearance and strong. In Step 3, impressions (imprints of your teeth, abutments, and jaws) are made along with a bite registration to see how your jaws and teeth fit together. From these models, a dental laboratory experienced in dental implant procedures will create your final implant crown, fixed bridge or prosthesis.
Post Care
After the 3 step implantation process is complete, routine dental checkups and consistent daily home care will play an important role in the life-span of your new teeth. We’ll provide you with detailed instructions on the care of your new teeth, allowing you to enjoy them worry free for years to come.
