We offer conscious sedation using sedatives often in combination with Nitrous Oxide. Dr. Acker is New York State Certified in Conscious Sedation.
These techniques allow our patients to achieve the highest level of comfort when receiving the state of the art dental care that we provide. Feeling virtually no pain at all, you will be relaxed and at ease throughout the procedure. During Sedation Dentistry treatment you are not unconscious at any time, just in a deeply relaxed state. Your vital signs are monitored throughout your entire visit and you are never left alone.
The sedative agents on the market now offer a high degree of safety and effectiveness for your dental treatment. Visits requiring sedation are arranged in advance. If you are undergoing Sedation Dentistry you will need to arrange transportation to and from the office, as you will not be able to drive.
Candidates for Sedation Dentistry, include patients;
- suffering from a high fear of dental treatment or dislike needles or shots
- hate the noises, smells or tastes associated with dental care
- are afraid or embarrassed by their teeth
- require extensive dental work
- have had negative dental experiences
- have very sensitive teeth
- have a strong gag reflex
- have difficulty achieving a numb sensation
- have limited time to undergo dental restoration
