CEREC enables us to quickly and economically restore damaged teeth using a durable porcelain material. This material is closest to the natural esthetics of tooth enamel than any material on earth. CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.
What are the main advantages of CEREC?
First and foremost, the restoration can be performed in a single session, usually in about 1 hour. With CEREC there is no need for us to make an impression and send it to the lab. We will not inconvenience you by asking you to return for a second visit.
Secondly, the restoration is natural looking because it is made of tooth colored porcelain. It is metal-free. The ceramic material is compatible with tissue in your mouth and is high grade, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. It allows us to be extremely precise and save more of the healthy part of your tooth.
A step by step approach to CEREC…
Digital Impression
After examining the tooth and determining the course of treatment, we will prepare your tooth for the restoration, similar to traditional treatment methods. Your tooth will be coated with a safe tasteless powder. CEREC then uses a state-of-the-art digital 3D camera to create an optical impression. The digital image replaces the physical impression required in traditional procedures. No more waiting while a tray of impression material hardens in your mouth.
Computer Aided Design
State-of-the-art CAD software allows us to design every precise detail of your restoration with the accuracy you have come to expect. The software allows us to customize the shape of the restoration to exactly fit your specific clinical needs.
Mill & Place
While you wait, exact design specifications are sent to our on site milling machine to create your restoration. This takes on average of 10 minutes. Your restoration is then ready for placement. Your new restoration is then fitted, polished, and bonded for permanence. Your tooth is restored back to its natural form, function, and beauty.
